LOTD

March 23rd 2010 I made LOTD for the first time with my Where The Wild Things Are lens. I have quite a few Wild Thing lenses, mostly about the movie, but this one has always been my favourite I love the book, it brings back great memories or reading it to my children, and I enjoyed researching Maurice Sendak. Learning about the controversy after the book was originally published was an eye opener as where other things about Maurice Sendak, who is controversial himself.

Amy Tan

Yesterday I published my Amy Tan lens. She is one of my all time favourite authors and I made a quick fan page in Squid Who. A few days earlier I published my The Very Hungry Caterpillar lens. Both still need a lot of attention but I am trying to get out of keeping lenses in WIP status and publish quickly and then just update.

I have too many lenses in WIP and I am tempted to simply delete them all and start over. Many of these WIP’s have quite a bit of work done, but not enough for me to feel comfortable publishing. I’m trying to get over that and just publish after creating a few modules and then update over the next few weeks. If I manage to do this I’ll have an awful lot of lenses published by the end of this month, but not really quality lenses.

So the dilemma is there. Just publish and update later, or keep a lot of WIP lenses until I feel comfortable? My Amy Tan and Very Hungry Caterpillar lenses were quickly done, maybe I should keep doing it that way, especially since my time online is getting more and more limited.

Scrapbooking Stickers

Today I caved.

I wrote a page on scrapbooking stickers last week but couldn’t publish my page due to having too many links from shareasale.com. After a week of hoping the site would be whitelisted I became impatient and took out several links. It’s probably a better page with less links, but still, it’s frustrating to have to do that.

Now my scrapbooking stickers page is published and all is right with the world … for now.

Mini-Muffin Pans

I’ve just completed another lens. The Best Mini-Muffin Pans is now published and it’s a lot longer than I expected.

Who knew there were so many different types of pans?

I can see a whole category of muffin related lenses starting, perhaps even muffin tops??? Nah, maybe not. Unless of course it has to do with the Seinfeld episode on muffin tops – the edible kind. Hmmmm, now there’s a thought!

Maintenance

It’s been several months since I’ve paid much attention to my Squidoo pages. Moving from one country to another will do that to you. Now that I am set up in my new home in Melbourne, Australia I am playing catch up.

My main project over the next few months is maintenance. While I’m surprised at how well some of my lenses are doing, they really could use some tlc. And of course I have a lot of works in progress, far more than I should.

I’ve deleted a couple of really bad lenses, two twitterstrms, and a couple more may be scratched over the coming weeks. I’ve deleted a few WIP’s, but I am surprised at how many have a lot of content and just need some tidying up.

With everything that I am doing, I just realized today that I could easily reach 50 lenses my March 31st and if they are polished up, I may even make giant. For some reason I had it in my head that I needed 100 for giant, but now that I know it is only 50 I am feeling even more motivated.

Now that I am settled I have also committed myself (finally, after many invites) to RocketMoms in April. In March, before the April session begins, the RocketMoms will be focusing on maintenance of the lenses we already have, which is great for me because I have a lot of work ahead of me.

So here I am, back again, and focusing on some quality time with my lenses. Time that will be very well spent.

The Eiffel Tower and the Carnival of Squid

Last month my family visited Paris. We have been a few times and this time was just a quick one day trip because friends of ours were visiting and wanted to fit in as much as possible over their 8 day stay.

Our itinerary changed many times before their visit, however going to Paris, once again, was something I was more than happy to do. It doesn’t matter how many times you visit, there is always something else to see.

This time we just stuck to the main tourist points:

* The Louvre
* Arc de Triomphe
* Eiffel Tower
* Notre Dame
* Lots of good food

Now that I Squidoo, I spent most of my day thinking about how many lenses I could make from this one day trip.  So far I have about 12 in my mind, and that’s without thinking too much about it.

My Eiffel Tower lens is the first, and I still have a lot more that I could add to it, but like everything else I am going one step at a time. If I wait until it’s perfect and have everything in it that I want to write about it just won’t get done.

I didn’t even think this first lens would get done, however when I saw the Carnival of Squid I realized that if I hurried I could submit it under the landmarks category. Nothing like a deadline to get you working faster!

I’m now going to frequent the Carnival to encourage me to finish any lenses that I have in progress that may fit into a Carnival category.

Check out the Carnival of Squid here.

Featured Lenses Module

Yesterday I discovered the featured lenses module.

While updating my lensography, which somehow rose to #25 in the Me category, I realized that I had no idea how to add images to the descriptions of my lenses.  I was using the link list module.

While I was beginning a post in SquidU asking for help, it occurred to me that I should probably fiddle around with more modules to see exactly what they can do.  Obviously I didn’t have to ask for help once I started to do that.  So that is where I am now.  Playing around.

I can’t believe that I didn’t know something this basic.  It seems that there is no end to learning how to use Squidoo, which is great, because I love discovering new things.  I get a bit bored if I think I know everything and there is no challenge.

So here is to playing around on Squidoo.  Who knows what else I will find.

Abraham Lincoln’s 200th Birthday

February 12th, 2009 marks Abraham Lincoln’s birthday.

I’ve created a lens on squidoo to celebrate this event.

One thing that I have learned while creating this lens is that there is so much information about Abraham Lincoln because he achieved so much, and is commemorated in many ways.  I can’t even begin to scratch the surface with the lens I’ve created, each time I look at it I think about many other things that could be added, and I’m sure that I will be changing it a lot over the next few weeks.  I can understand why so many people find him a fascinating person.

Happy Birthday Mr. President

New Lens – Heart Pendants

Published a new lens today.  I had hoped to have it publised a few weeks ago.  This one isn’t showing up as published on my dashboard, must be a glitch.  I hope it is fixed soon so I can start adding it to groups and send out a squidcast.
